Born and raised on the smallest island of the smallest state, Block Island in Rhode Island, Clayton developed a passion for filmmaking at an early age by playing with his parent’s camcorder. But before breaking into the filmmaking world as a director, Clayton set out on an alternative endeavor: he began a long and successful career as a professional skier.
His fascination with the strange world of skiing led him to direct multiple award-winning films about it’s bizarre athletes and characters. This momentum allowed Clayton to dive head first into his career as a director.

Now after years of working as a Los Angeles-based director, Clayton has directed several feature documentaries, short films, and branded content pieces that have gained notoriety through both national television and Oscar-qualifying film festivals. His fascination with human character has developed into a unique talent for both handling the sensitive stories of his documentary subjects, and creating unique and empathy-provoking fictional characters.
